Obesity is a serious problem affecting more andmore people of all ages. The number of overweight adolescents has tripled since 1980, and the prevalence toward obesity among children has more than doubled.
Being overweight during childhood and adolescence could increase the risk of developing high cholesterol, hypertension, respiratory ailments, orthopedic problems, depression, and type II diabetes.
Nutrition, daily physical activity, formation of positive behaviors, and a healthy environment with strong parental support have all been proven to enhance healthy lifestyles among children.
However, during hard economic times our school systems have made budget cuts into programs promoting these factors.
CORE Fitness's mission with the program HealthyKids101 is to correct the discrepancy between the needs of our children and the resources provided to them by our school systems. Our goals are to educate and empower people of all ages with the tools, skills, and motivation to restore optimal health.
