We actively promote health and fitness and support a variety of charitable causes to strengthen our community, such as American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, Adopt-a-Family, Sunday Breakfast Mission, and others.

On May 24, 2011, the LiveStrong Foundation received an overwhelming gesture from the friends and sponsors of this year's DanceSTRONG benefit. A total of $2300 was collected for the event, all of which will be donated to the Livestrong campaign to aid in the fight against cancer.
The evening began with socializing and complimentary appetizers. Uplifting dance performances were the main entertainment for the evening followed by raffle prize drawings from DanceSTRONG's sponsors and a moment of silence for all those affected by cancer.
During the week of March 21, 2011, 105 overweight and obese individuals faced their fears and stepped on the scale for the Chamber of Commerce Weight Loss Challenge, a collaborative effort between Arianne Missimer and Mark Kleinschmidt, president of the Chamber of Commerce. The idea behind the seventy-day challenge was to recruit ten teams of five from businesses in New Castle County to face off in a battle of the bulge. The program generated more interest than anticipated, with more than double the expected participation. The 105 participants represented twenty-one teams from seventeen different companies.

CORE Fitness participated in Adopt-A-Family again this year. Our family consisted of a highly motivated single mother who receives no help from her family or the father of her three young children. She is currently putting herself through school to obtain her degree and is simultaneously seeking employment. This young mother has two daughters, five and three and a two-year-old son. CORE Fitness, with the help of our generous client donations, was able to provide $300 in gift certificates and over a half dozen toys to our family.
The Polar Bear Plunge is an annual event that raises money for the Special Olympics of Delaware, the largest organization devoted to sports training for children and adults with intellectual and cognitive disabilities.
This year Paul Roberts, a CORE Fitness personal trainer, lead the CORE Performance Team in the plunge and raised $1800 in donations. Barclays had promised to match the dollar amount that Paul raised, which made his total $3600. One man really can make a difference and we thank Paul for his dedication and inspirational efforts.
